Edmonton, AB (October 1, 2021) Aurora Hydrogen is pleased to announce that it will participate in the 2021/2022 cohort of the Creative Destruction Lab (CDL). After a highly competitive selection process, Aurora has been welcomed into the Energy stream at CDL-Rockies, hosted at the Haskayne School of Business, University of Calgary. CDL-Rockies brings together many of the most experienced entrepreneurs, investors, and scientists from the energy, industrial, and clean technology fields to help supercharge the growth of startups accepted into the program.

“This is a really special opportunity for Aurora,” said Andrew Gillis, CEO of Aurora Hydrogen. “We have validated our core technology and are ready to aggressively push towards commercialization. We believe that success in the CDL program will lay a solid foundation for the next chapter of Aurora’s development.” Dr. Erin Bobicki, Technical Director of Aurora Hydrogen, added, “After recently achieving continuous hydrogen production with 100% conversion of methane to hydrogen, we are eager to move to the next phase.”

The CDL program runs from November to June. It involves mentorship from select entrepreneurs and investors, opportunities to raise capital, advice on technology roadmaps, and business development support from top MBA students. “CDL will help us develop the business side of Aurora Hydrogen as we progress to commercialization of our technology,” said Dr. Murray Thomson, Technical Director of Aurora Hydrogen.

ABOUT AURORA HYDROGEN

Aurora Hydrogen is developing a technology that uses efficient microwave energy to heat natural gas in the absence of oxygen and water (pyrolysis) to produce hydrogen and solid carbon while avoiding the generation of CO2. The technology is highly scalable and modular; units can be installed anywhere there is natural gas and electricity. Hydrogen production using Aurora's technology has the potential to reduce global CO2 emissions by over 500 million tonnes per year.
